  Mike Daniels  

Mike Daniels

Mike discovered at an impressionable age that the trumpet has a fantastic high register! Gaining a music degree and qualifying as a teacher he settled in Bath and fitted in a busy freelance trumpet-playing career including playing for Bath Philharmonia and many choral societies across the region. He also specialises in authentic performance playing natural trumpet including many performances for Bath Baroque and Bradford Baroque Band.

Mike has appeared regularly in the pit playing for shows in Bath and Bristol and plays for the outstanding Premiere Brass Quintet.

With the aid of friend Matt Finch he co-founded the Gorgeous Big Horns Big Band and has been fortunate to work with Pee Wee Ellis, Jason Rebello, Mike Mower, Andy Sheppard, Iain Ballamy, Mark Nightingale and John Law.

Mike is the Musical Director of Jazz Factory.

Rachel Kerry  

Rachel Kerry

Rachel's varied musical career includes teaching in a range of settings and styles, performing and also examining for Trinity College London.  She teaches classical and jazz piano in schools, privately, small groups, whole class and one to one, as well a tutoring small jazz ensembles in a workshop setting.

Rachel is an experienced performer and accompanist. For more than 10 years she has played on her local jazz scene appearing at festivals, jazz clubs and private functions in a variety of bands. She also works with choirs and plays in bands for shows.

Currently Rachel is leading her own trio/ duo, playing in a well regarded local big band, organising and directing a short intensive jazz course and teaching piano in three schools.

Damian Cook  


After studying flute for a couple of years, Damian finally got his hands on a sax and began the journey that would eventually lead him to the renowned Leeds College of Music, where he studied for 3 years, graduating in 2001 with a BA in Jazz Studies.

Damian has toured internationally with artists including The Four Tops, The Temptations, Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, The Drifters, Mary Wilson (The Supremes), Roy Wood (Wizard/ELO/The Move), to name a few.

Damian has also performed in the West End and toured with shows including Chicago, Avenue Q, and The Rat Pack.

Azhaar Saffar   AZHAAR SAFFAR

Azhaar trained as a concert violinist at the Royal Northern College of Music. However her first job after graduating was playing and singing jazz. She discovered jazz in Manchester, pop music in London, rock n roll in Los Angeles, Arabic music in Egypt, bossa nova in Brazil, funk in Brighton, salsa in  Mexico, and blues on the south side of Chicago.

She has released 6 albums with Sirus B and in 2008 released her first jazz album "Out There" on 33 Records. It includes stunning performances from: Jason Rebello, Iain Ballamy, Mike Mower, Mike Peake, Joe Cavanagh, Dave Goodyer and Scott Hammond. The jazz quartet toured the U.K. with the support of Jazz Services.

After five years mainly in South and Central America, Azhaar returned to the U.K. on a mission to create her next album, "Nomada"! She now mixes her time touring and in the music studio with tutoring at Jazz Factory.

Ross Hughes


Since graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama Ross has shared the stage with the likes of the BBC Concert Orchestra, David Tennant, Peter Gabriel, and Howard Goodall. He joined Portishead’s live band in 2013 and has recorded for Goldfrapp.

Ross has composed Library music and also for BBC Radio 4 drama, Cbeebies Interactive, The London Snorkelling Team, Filter Theatre and Fluidity Films.

Ross tutors in the evening and weekend performance workshops at LCCM.

Jason Rebello  


Jason is an outstanding jazz pianist. He has worked with Wayne Shorter, Branford Marsalis, Jean Toussaint, Mica Paris & many more!.  He performs regularly with artists such as Sting and Jeff Beck.  Jason is the 2014/15 Artist in Residence at the Wiltshire Music Centre. But when he’s home he always gives a hand at the Factory. 

Emma Harris  


At seventeen Emma embarked on a lifelong love affair with Jazz.  In 1996 she moved to the West Country and spent gigging with various groups in the area.

She has sung with MOBO nominee Natalie Williams and Pianist Joe Stilgoe at Babington House.

Emma has worked as a vocal coach for theatre productions and led workshops in Vocal Improvisation. She is a member of The Natural Voice Teachers Association and led natural voice choirs and workshops for many years specialising in Gospel and World Music.  She trained at Goldsmiths University of London as a Community Music Leader.
